Closing exceptions without rewriting history

Remediation letters that erase the original finding lose credibility. Show the path from exception to re-test so partners can trust the update.

Partners remember open findings. When you claim everything is fixed, they look for the trail: original exception, remediation action, and independent re-test. Skipping any step forces them to re-open fieldwork.

Keep the original wording visible. Update status beside it. Describe what changed in operations—not only that a policy PDF was rewritten. Prefer evidence of operating effectiveness over design-only updates when the finding concerned how work actually ran.

Scope follow-up tightly. Re-testing the entire control universe delays commercial timelines. Agree the finding list in writing, then execute against that list.

Issue a short status letter your relationship managers can forward. Long slide decks bury the answer. Banks want a dated conclusion they can file.
