What bank partners actually ask fintech vendors

Diligence questionnaires look endless until you group them. Here is the short list of themes that drive most third-party assurance asks in Hong Kong banking relationships.

Bank partners rarely invent unique questions from scratch. Most RFXs recycle themes: who can access production data, how changes reach production, how incidents escalate, and how you supervise the firms behind your stack. When vendors answer each questionnaire as a one-off, evidence drifts and contradictions appear.

Group asks into control families first. Access, change, operations, continuity, and third-party oversight cover the majority of bank diligence for payment and lending vendors. Map each family to one owner and one primary artifact. Secondary evidence can support, but buyers lose patience when five teams send five different versions of the same claim.

Write residual risk in plain language. Banks expect exceptions; they distrust silence. A dated exception with a remediation owner and target date often travels farther than a polished claim with no evidence behind it.

Refresh the pack on a calendar, not when a deal is already late. Quarterly reviews of screenshots, tickets, and vendor reports keep commercial timelines from colliding with compliance fire drills.
